Understanding Elder Abuse
Elder abuse is an intentional or unintentional act by self or others that endangers the health or well-being of an older person or the aged.

The rapid increase of elder abuse in our society is an uncommon problem that unavoidably needs adequate attention. According to the National Institute on Aging (NIA), it is estimated that 1 in 10 older people suffer from some type of abuse every year. This however goes unnoticed due to the under-reporting and the absence of a countrywide uniform reporting system causing a difficulty in determining the spectrum of this issue.
